Cee-Lo took a sideways detour into messed up funk n' soul on the last album, but he steers straight back into the freaked out MC guise he perfected earlier with the Goodie Mobb for the interestingly titled . . . Is The Soul Machine album. (Did he choose that title before he decided to largely absolve himself of that new-fangled Cameo-esque funk approach?) The first solo LP got an A for effort from us, but this is the Cee Lo we really want to hear. Gravelly voiced, dirty south hip hop without a trace of pretension – just solid, funky dirty southin' from one of the prime vocal nnovators of the last decade. Production and/or appearances by Pharrell, Neptunes, Timbaland, Jazze Pha, T.I., Ludacris and others. "Soul Machine", "The Art Of Noise", "Living Again", "I'll Be Around", "The One", "My Kind Of People", "Childz Play", "I Am Selling Soul", "All Day Love Affair", "Die Trying" and more. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
