One of the greatest jazz soundtracks of all time! Johnny Mandel composed the memorable score for this late 50's film starring Susan Hayward, and the music is played by Mandel's orchestra and a smaller group led by Gerry Mulligan, which includes Art Farmer, Shelly Manne, and Bud Shank. The music was originally issued on 2 different albums – but this double LP set brings together both LPs worth of tracks, for a whopping 22 selections, wrapped in a nice gatefold cover! The whole thing's a jazz soundtrack lover's delight – and tracks include "Poker Game", "Stakeout", "Black Nightgown", "Death Scene", "The Last Mile", and "Gas Chamber Unveiling".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A pretty darn great soundtrack from Neal Hefti – with some great mod bits too! There's a lot of groovy organ on the set – and plenty of go-go drums that give the tracks a garagey soulful sound that separates the record from most of Hefti's other soundtrack work – a slightly ... John Barry did the score for this dark British film starring Dame Edith Evans as an elderly woman slowly succumbing to the "whispers" of old age. One of the best-ever euro soundtracks on United Artists! Lots of great Italian sixties scoring by Armando Trovajoli, with lots of jazzy crime music (this is a heist movie, apparently), and really cool Swingle Singers-sounding vocals by a group called I.Cantori Moderni. The sound is great, very ... LP, Vinyl record album

United Artists, Late 60s. Very Good
Leroy Holmes and orchestra lay down some very groovy instrumental readings of tracks from "new provocative" films from the late 60s – including ones that were Euro trash and American sexploitation flicks, both masquerading under art house guises. Nice moments include Leroy's ... LP, Vinyl record album

A pretty nice Andre Previn soundtrack for this late Billy Wilder film that starred Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau – plus the young Judi West, who sings a version of "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To" on the album. A great little spy spoof soundtrack – up there with the best of the 60s, with a sound that's a lot hipper than anything else Steve Allen has ever done! One of the greatest jazz soundtracks of all time! Elmer Bernstein wrote the score to Otto Preminger's chilling film version of Nelson Algren's book The Man With The Golden Arm – a sad tale of jazz, gambling, and heroin addiction on the streets of Chicago (not far from Dusty Groove, in fact!) ...
