CD (Item 560802) Club Francais Du Disque/Universal (France), 1956 — Condition: New Copy

A 1956 session originally issued by Club Francais Du Disque – featuring a quintet with Zoot Sims on tenor, Henri Renaud on piano, and Jon Eardley on trumpet. The work is quite unusual for Sim' French recordings from the time (or his American ones, for that matter), in that it's really open-ended, with long tracks that let him blow these open solos you normally don't get in his more tightly arranged work from the 50s. The four tracks are all in the 7 to 8 minute range – and titles include "Charlie Went to Cherbourg", "Charlie Was In Rouen", and "Crazy Rhythm". But added to the set is some even rarer material – another 1956 session that includes tracks with Jon Eardley on trumpet, Henri Renaud on piano, Benoit Quersin on bass, and Charles Saudrais on drums – plus Sims on both tenor and soprano sax! Titles from this session include "My Old Flame", "Nuzzolese Blues", "Captain Jetter", "On The Alamo", and "Little Jon Special".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
