This Is My Home
CD (Item 448416) Ubiquity, 2007 — Condition: New Copy
A long-awaited full length set from Lanu – aka Lance Ferguson of The Bamboos – and a record that's one of the best blends of soul, funk, and cosmic vibes we've heard in many many years! Lanu's been bubbling under for quite awhile – first issuing singles from his native New Zealand, then more recently from the UK – but with a full album of work under his belt, the depths of his talents are finally revealed – an amazing tapestry of soul and sound that carries echoes of older work by Roy Ayers, Fela Kuti, 4 Hero, and Herbie Hancock! But the grooves here are way better than even those easy references might make you think – none of this "fake fusion" that sometimes shows up a bit too much these days – and really the real deal from start to finish – with incredible keys, complicated rhythms, and a soaring, joyous approach to the music that's totally great. Guests include Kero One, Quantic, Aloe Blacc, Abby Joyce, No Comply, and Simon Grey – and titles include "Dis-Information", "Mother Earth", "Runaway", "Aow Leuk", "Don't Sleep (parts 1 & 2)", "Let You Grow", "Shine", and "Rise". CD also features 2 bonus tracks – "Beachcomber" and "Beijo Do Sol" – both gems from older singles! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
