Manfredo Fest — After Hours (Japanese paper sleeve edition) ... CD 28.99

Sweet keyboard genius from the legendary Manfredo Fest – an early 70s effort that's got a really wonderful groove! The style here is a bit like some of the best CTI recordings during their early years with A&M – kind of an update of 60s bossa that features full, warm, jazzy orchestrations behind Manfredo's piano – giving him support with this rich blend of reeds and trombones, as the acoustic keys soar wonderfully over the top with amazing dexterity! The setting's every bit as great as the early Jobim records for CTI – and the recording quality equally wonderful too, thanks to producer Sonny Burke. Titles include "Bossa Rock Blues #1", "Amanda", "Madalena", "Hello Forever", and "Sleepy Shores".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Bonfa
Dot, Late 60s. Very Good+
One of Bonfa's better pop-bossa efforts of the 60s, and a record that features some pretty solid arrangements by Deodato. The record's still a mix of easy tunes and bossa ones, with the usual confusion of some of Bonfa's other American records – but the groove is pretty solid Now Sound stuff ... LP, Vinyl record album

Girl From Ipanema
A&M/MFP (UK), Late 60s. Near Mint-
Nice mellow sampler of tracks from Jobim's lovely years at A&M! The albums were recorded as part of A&M's early relationship with CTI – and they feature a great set of arrangements that has Jobim on guitar or piano, backed by some beautifully full warm jazzy orchestrations. Listen To Me
Fontana, 1968. Very Good+
A beautiful blend of bossa and jazz – one of the few American albums cut by Luiz Henrique, and a set that features him singing in English throughout! The sound is wonderful – a light and lively take on Brazilian bossa, filtered a bit through cool American 60s modes – very much in ... LP, Vinyl record album
