Latin Jazz Descarga Part 1
CD (Item 601274) Tania, 1985 — Condition: New Copy
Lost material from some lesser-known years in Cachao's career – but a surprisingly great little record that really opens up his groove! Cachao plays bass throughout, but the album's also got wonderful work from Grupo Walpataca – an 80s combo with a strong ear for Latin jazz – mixing together vibes, piano, Fender Rhodes, and plenty of percussion with a really tight groove – all in ways that still echo Cachao's descarga roots, yet which also update the sound a bit too – a bit like some of the best Latin jazz recordings from the Cuban scene of the late 70s! Tracks are mighty nice, and a really nice change from the usual – and titles include "Caliente", "Loco", "Quinto Con Vibrafon", "Me Esta Gustando", and "Walpataca". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
