The early recordings of Georgia Anne Muldrow – and they're stunning – showing Georgia's depth of soul and boundless creativity was in full force even in her late teens! As a whole, the tunes on Early are a bit leaner and less trippy than some of her more recent recording, but her spirit is as open and the lyrics as spiritually minded as ever – we're pretty much floored by the high standard set here! It's a blend of beats, keys and voice from an inspiring talent, and perhaps most exciting, it sounds great, like she had been doing this for years and years already. The inner notes compare her, fairly we'd add, to Roy Ayers, J Dilla, Billie Holiday and Lauryn Hill, and maybe a little Innervisions-era Stevie if we can add one to the mix.
