LP (Item 449172) Buddah/Arista, 1983 — Condition: Used

A mix of 80s groove and mellower material from Michael Henderson – a sweet extension of the jazzy soul he first laid out in the 70s! The style here is a bit more electric and contemporary than before – less of the deeper, warmer tones – and a bit more synth drums and keyboards. But Henderson's mature, sophisticated approach to soul still holds it all together nicely – hitting its best vibe on the mellower cuts, which still let Michael's wonderful voice find some of its best notes. Titles include the great spacey stepper "Assault With A Friendly Weapon", plus "Love Will Find A Way", "Thin Walls", "You Wouldn't Have To Work At All", "Feeling Like Myself Once Again", and "Whip It", which was previously released, but makes a reappearance here. (Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has some wear, a stain, and a bent corner.)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
