CD (Item 544673) PNL (Norway), 2007 — Condition: New Copy

Hold onto your speakers – this one will blast you across the room from the very first note! The album doesn't so much stalk as it does storm – coming on with a full wave of noisy electronics from Lasse Marhaug, and an overall sound that's quite far from the more familiar free jazz modes we expect from Paal Nilssen-Love! Paal still does lots of great work on the drum kit – those loose, free lines that make him a powerhouse in most settings – but at times, the electronics really dominate and direct the sound – giving the record an undeniably bold feel – while at other moments, the sounds and textures are a lot more subtle. Titles include "The Last Exile", "The Lodger", "Tenebrae", "I Will Walk Like A Crazy Horse", "Paranoia Agent", and "Santanico Pandemonium".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
