A legendary early 80s set from Mali's Le Super Djata Band – feverishly rhythmic, passionate and soulful African music that's as timeless as it is incredible! This group of players ha dbeen active since the 60s, in a number of incarnations, and they have the incredible skill and unflagging energy to show for it on this great set. The album has 2 long pieces on each side, side A featuring the more vigorous, heavily rhythmic jams and the side B with slightly moodier, more deliberately paced numbers – and it's amazing on both sides! The group fuses Mali music tradition with timeless global inspiration as brilliantly as any of the peers – with incredible percussion, passionate vocals and psych-stoaked guitars. Great stuff!
