By the time she reached the Buddah label, Gladys Knight had already recorded for many years and other labels, but that didn't stop her and The Pips from having an extremely successful run during their stay there – as is evidenced by the great selection of hits on this set! The album includes the super-huge "Midnight Train To Georgia" and "Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me", plus the sophisticated soul reworking of "Try To Remember" mixed with "The Way We Were". Also includes 2 nice Curtis Mayfield cuts – "Make Yours A Happy Home" and "On & On"!  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Motown, Late 60s/Early 70s. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
Although Gladys Knight & The Pips didn't cut their first recordings or their biggest recordings for Motown, they did still do a pretty nice job at the label – as you'll hear on this nice 2LP set that brings together a nice batch of their best tracks. Tastiest Hits
Bell, Early 60s/Late 60s. Very Good+
A collection of Gladys' earliest singles – put together by the Bell label, but recorded earlier in the 60s. Titles include "Letter Full Of Tears", "Lovers Always Forgive", "Operator", "Tell Her You're Mine", "Giving Up", "Every Beat Of ... LP, Vinyl record album
Love Machine
Buddah/Arista, 1978. Very Good+
At one level, this is a horribly cliched album of disco – with lots of throwaway female vocals, goofy lyrics, retro touches, and mindless grooving by the band. But at another level, there's a few nice soul tracks with a pretty good groove – and these will hold up well if you can get ... LP, Vinyl record album
Groovy Kind of Love
Capitol, Late 60s. Very Good
Groovy little album of pop soul recorded for Capitol, with arrangements by Sid Feller and Mike Melvoin! We're not sure what the single is here, but this has the same feel as some of the Patti Drew LPs, in which there's a few lesser known cuts, and then a bunch of pop covers. Titles include "W ... 1980
Arista, 1980. Very Good
A great one from Gil Scott-Heron – and another wonderful collaboration with Brian Jackson – who handled all the arrangements on this set, and gave the record that sweet jazzy sound that makes Gil's work from this time some of his best ever! There's loads of excellent electric piano ... LP, Vinyl record album
