We don't normally dig hippies that much, but these guys are great – and this album may be one of the sweetest we've heard from the Bay Area scene of the early 70s! Joy Of Cooking have a wonderful style that puts plenty of jazz in the vocals of lead singers Toni Brown and Terry Garthwaite – a sweetly gliding approach to the music that pulls the folksy instrumentation of the rest of the combo into hipper territory, and which almost points towards some of the best breezy vocal work to come out of the SF scene later in the 70s. Instrumentation includes keyboards, guitar, alto sax, trombone, and lots of great percussion that punctuates the tunes with an earthy groove, and really emphasizes the rhythmic quality of the work. Titles include "Pilot", "Closer To The Ground", "Blues For A Friend", "New Colorado Blues", "A Thousand Miles", "Sometimes Like a River", and "The War You Left". (Cover has a cutout hole.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Capitol, 1978. Very Good+
Man and machine – a perfect summation of the Kraftwerk genius, delivered perfectly on this classic late 70s set! Inside
Janus, 1974. Very Good+ Gatefold
A pretty nice album of soaring jazz rock tunes – with lots of solo jamming on organ and guitar, and less vocals to get in the way of the instrumental riffing. Titles include "Land Of No Body", "Inside", and "Future City". LP, Vinyl record album

Archetypal heavy rock from Blue Cheer – one of THE underground classics of the late 60s! Guitars are firmly, very jammingly in force – and the set's produced to perfection by the legendary Abe "Voco" Kesh. Powerful, fuzzed out, blues based fire at it's most forceful and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bearsville, 1972. Good+ 2LP
Arguably one of the greatest pop albums of all time – a pure act of genius from Todd Rundgren, and one of the few cases in rock music where two records are actually better than one!
