A 4 track ep from percussionist Pheeroan AkLaff – a player who, like Mtume and Norman Connors before him, started out in the soul jazz underground, but made a move during the 80s for a crossover R&B sound. The record's smooth, and mostly uptempo – produced with help from Michael Gregory and Taj Mahal, and vocals by Clarice Taylor and Gregory. Both Geri Allen and Amina Claudine Myers play keyboards on the session – and titles include "Intuit", "L", "Waiting For The Heartache", and "Fits Like A Love".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Kudu, 1975. Very Good

Fantasy, 1974. Near Mint-

But ultimately there's at least a little bit of funk peeking through on any of his Fantasy recordings, which gets a nice helping ... LP, Vinyl record album

Any Number Can Win
Verve, 1963. Very Good+ Gatefold
Sessions like this are proof that Jimmy was one of the most fantastic organ players ever – as his work with large arrangements (supplied here by Claus Ogerman) always seems to groove better than his work with small combos. His sound is impeccable, and he soars ahead of the rest of the ... LP, Vinyl record album
