A 4 track ep from percussionist Pheeroan AkLaff – a player who, like Mtume and Norman Connors before him, started out in the soul jazz underground, but made a move during the 80s for a crossover R&B sound. The record's smooth, and mostly uptempo – produced with help from Michael Gregory and Taj Mahal, and vocals by Clarice Taylor and Gregory. Both Geri Allen and Amina Claudine Myers play keyboards on the session – and titles include "Intuit", "L", "Waiting For The Heartache", and "Fits Like A Love". (Cover has a cut corner.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Prestige, 1965. Very Good+

The album's filled with screamin' groovers throughout, including a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bitches Brew
Columbia, 1969. Very Good+ 2 LP Gatefold
One of the few cases in jazz where an oft-played classic still resonates with power! The record itself is a key cap to Miles Davis' already-groundbreaking years of the 60s – a bold step forward, not just for his nascent electric sound, but also for jazz in general – and the benchmark ... House Of David
Atlantic, 1967. Very Good+
One of David Newman's grooviest albums of the 60s – a stripped-down set that features a quartet with Hammond and guitar – all in a vibe that's a bit more relaxed than some of Newman's other sessions for Atlantic! There's a gritty edge to the record – with organ by the obscure ... LP, Vinyl record album
