Great LA soul jazz session featuring the deep Texas tenor of Curtis Amy and the funky organ of Paul Bryant! Also present is Roy Brewster, the great, under-recorded LA valve trombonist, whose playing here gives the session a nice round bottom. 5 long cuts, with earthy, bluesy solos, and a very swinging rhythm section. Titles include "Searchin", "Blues Message", "This Is The Blues", and "Goin Down, Catch Me A Woman". (Black & silver label pressing with deep groove. Cover has a split top seam & some wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Prestige, 1961. Very Good-
A real turning point in the career of Gene Ammons – a record that almost returns Ammons to his earthier roots, and in the process helps build up a whole new sound in soul jazz for the 60s!
