Egypt Strut (180 gram pressing)
LP (Item 521772) Vinyl Lovers, 1983/1984 — Condition: New Copy
Really unique recordings from the Sun Ra Arkestra – material recorded in Egypt in early 80s – recordings featuring Salah Ragab on drums and percussion and captured in separate Cairo appearances in May of 1983 and January of 1984! The Salah Ragab groovers "Egypt Strut" and "Dawn" were recorded at Cairo's El Nahar Studio in spring '83 – a landmark pair of late Sun Ra sessions, particularly because Ra & The Arkestra played the compositions of others, a testament tot the talent of the great Salah Ragab – as we needed another! The other-worldly "Watusa" was captured at the Il Capo Jazz Club is January '84, cosmically emanating from the grooves of the whole side. (A great LP version of material previously released on CD in the Sun Ra Arkestra Meets Salah Ragab In Egypt set on Leo Records.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
