Swinging Explosion
LP (Item 582276) MPS/Promising (Germany), 1971 — Condition: New Copy
Never-heard music from pianist Horst Jankowski – pulled from the MPS archives, and offering up the musician at his grooviest! In the 60s, Horst cut some pop instrumental sessions that brought him great fame – but by the time of this set, he'd strongly returned to jazz – working in the sweet studios of MPS, with freedom to open up and really do his thing! The setting is relatively lean – a quartet with Sigi Schwab on guitar and the mighty JA Rettenbacher on electric bass – and Horst plays acoustic piano, but with a fluid groove that's clearly influenced by his work on keyboards in the 70s too – open, gliding, soaring, and grooving. Titles include the great "Balkan Fever" – a fuzzy funky groove that's right up there with MPS classics of the time – plus "Sleeping Princess", "Walking Lines", "Groove Explosion", and "Daybreak". (Super-heavy vinyl pressing too!) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
