A landmark recording that is one of Jorge Ben's best albums ever! The album is a perfect realization of the way that Jorge mixes Brazilian rhythms with choppy Afro grooves – and the result is a masterpiece that yeilded some of his biggest tracks ever. Included here is the great choppy funk track "Ponta De Lanca", plus loads of other goodies like "O Filosofo", "Xica Da Silva", "A Historia De Jorge", and a great remake of "Taj Mahal" – probably his greatest cut ever. Great all the way through – and is a perfect introduction to Jorge Ben if you don't know his work, and an essential addition to your collection if you do!  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A really standout set from Brazilian rocker Ronnie Von – easily one of his greatest records ever, and a set that shows some wonderful steps forward in production and arrangements! Ronnie's still got a rock approach at his core, but he's often working here with fuller backings that include ... LP, Vinyl record album
Polydor/Polysom (Brazil), 1969. New Copy (reissue)
Great late 60s work from Ronnie Von – an under-appreciated Brazilian rocker, and one with a sound that sits nicely between the Jovem Guarda generation and some of the headier groups to come in the 70s! There's a nice array of psychedelic influences at play here – strong echoes of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Chaos/Polysom (Brazil), 1996. New Copy
Believe it or not, the title's a pretty good way to describe this modern Brazilian rock release – as the music's a mish mash of newer beats and grooves, grounded in a hip hop/dance tradition, mixed with samples of older Brazilian rock influences – including stuff by Os Mutantes, ... Whatmusic (UK), New Copy Gatefold (reissue)
A deeply jazzy album from Brazil – one of the few rare records cut by the combo of Edison Machado, one of Brazil's greatest drummers of the 60s! The set has a sound that's quite different from Machado's earlier work – a fusion of post-bossa and post-Coltrane styles that comes off with ... LP, Vinyl record album

Musidisc/Whatmusic (UK), 1963. New Copy (reissue)
Warm bossa grooves – and the second album by Orlandivo, billed here on the cover as Orlann Divo! The album's a great batch of instrumentals – jazzy, with a mix of percussion, bass, and organ that's quite different from the usual bossa album of its type – much more expansive, and ... Some of the most brilliantly baroque work ever recorded by Marcos Valle – an obscure 1970 album that collects together tunes from a few of his odd soundtrack experiments of the late 60s, plus a few others that are in a very similar vein! Marcos is really going over the top here – ... LP, Vinyl record album
Odeon/Light In The Attic, 1971. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)
One of Marcos Valle's most strangely beautiful albums – a set that really his him stepping off strongly from his bossa nova years – really moving into mindblowing music with a range of styles that's simply incredible! There's definitely a bit of bossa at the core, but the larger ... LP, Vinyl record album

Quite possibly the last truly sublime album ever recorded by Os Mutantes – a set that's a bit more rock-oriented then their first few, but still pretty revolutionary overall! The group have expanded to a quintet at this point, but haven't yet falling into the guitar-heavy groove of later ... LP, Vinyl record album

A really amazing project, with roots in a number of different styles – and a quality that's quite unlike anything else we've ever heard before! Pathe, 1973. New Copy (reissue)
A totally excellent soundtrack! This is one of the maddest we've heard from the 70s – with a baroque mix of wah wah funk and sophisticated orchestrations, very much in the mode of work by David Axelrod or some of the backings heard on Serge Gainsbourg's best records. No surprise it's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Columbia/Tizona, 1978. New Copy (reissue)
The last and the best of the three comeback albums that the Walker Brothers cut during their brief return to pop in the mid 70s – a set that already shows the newly-revived group coming apart at the seems, but in a really cool way that makes for one heck of an interesting record! Wild stuff – a very weird little EP from this unusual 70s group – a quartet who are almost more soulful funk than the kind of psych or folk you usually hear on small indie records like this!
