Soulful, not surreal – a sublime set of sounds from Incognito – one of the few groups who could ever stay this great for so long! The record's overflowing with everything we love about Incognito – that warm blend of soul, jazz, and funk – trained in the best 70s elements at its core, but served up with a lean, tight quality that not only belies the group's London roots, but their potent force in contemporary soul in the 21st Century! And although other recent albums have been great, there's really something special going on here – an extra-great element that we really can't put our finger on exactly, but which had us loving this one from the very first note. Vocals are great – sung by Vanessa Haynes, Natalie Williams, Mo Brandis, and the mighty Maysa – and titles include "The Less You Know", "The Stars From Here", "This Must Be Love", "Thoughtful Fantasies", "Restless We Are", "Rivers On The Sun", and "Above The Night".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Tremendous work from Bilal – and further proof that his life on the indie side of the soul spectrum has been a very good thing! There's a crispness to the record that crackles right from the start – slight cosmic touches in the beats, but never too over the top – just enough to ... CD

Some of the best work we've heard from Sandra St Victor in years – a stunning full-length project done in close collaboration with Mark De Clive-Lowe! Sandra's always had one hell of a voice – one we first fell in love with when she was a member of The Family Stand – but here, ... CD

The long-overdue release of an album that should have been a Neo Soul classic! The team of Otis Cooper and Shugg David recorded this gem of a set back in the mid 90s along with help from longtime friend and producer Raphael Saadiq – but due to shifting priorities at the major label, the set ... CD

The first we've heard from this UK group – but given the strength of the record, we're betting we'll be digging them for many years to come! The album's a great no-nonsense contemporary soul affair – put together in a really old school sort of way that recalls the energy of Brand New ... CD

The most deeply soulful set so far from Ivana Santilli! The beats and bottom of the record are a lot heavier than before – and set perfectly to Ivana's well-voiced lyrics, which go far beyond simple soul cliches, and really show a nice push forward in her songwriting abilities over the years. ... Boobeescoot, 2000. New Copy
A beautiful debut from Frank McComb – a singer we've really grown to love and know well from his indie releases of the 21st Century, but who surprisingly got his start on a major label! The album's near perfect all the way through – as wonderful a mellow soul document as you could hope ... CD
