First Nudie Musical (with bonus tracks)
CD (Item 591785) Kritzerland, 1975 — Condition: New Copy
A surprisingly hilarious musical – written for a film that kind of snuck in under the wire in the late 70s – as a movie parody of the nudity that had taken place on New York stages in shows from Hair onward! The story's about a struggling porno director going for nude musicals as his last resort – and Bruce Kimmel's score really fits the mode of the tale – kitschy, but kind of groovy too – almost in the mode of Oh Calcutta, in that it's got lots of self-reflexive tunes on the musical, in a musical – and this was years before Urinetown too! The cast includes a pre-Laverne & Shirley Cindy Williams – and titles include "Perversion", "Dancing Dildos", "I Don't Have To Hide Anymore", "Lesbian Butch Dyke", and "Orgasm". This version features lots of bonus tracks – 14 in all – plus very detailed notes from producer/writer Bruce Kimmel! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
