What can we say? "Twine Time" is one of the all-time classics – and it's still the best-remembered track by this legendary funky 45 artist. "The Bump" is pretty darn nice, too – and this one's not a 70s bump track, but a harder, 60s one! ("Mushroom cloud" label pressing. Label has some pen.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Mar V Lus, Late 60s. Very Good+
Alvin Cash revisits his famous "twine" sound here – in a great little track that's hard, raw, and done with lots of echo – just like Alvin's big hit, but with a groovy rolling vibe! Lots of choppy guitar, rolling sax, and shouted choruses by Alvin! "The Penguin" is ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Funky Bull (parts 1 & 2)
Original Sound, 1969. Very Good-
A monster from Dyke! The cut's a bit tripper than some of his other work – more in the late Charles Wright vein, with descending off-kilter riffs and some monster-hard drums that really make the cut kick nicely, especially on part 2! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Gold Plate, 1975. Very Good
Two mellower cuts from this group that's best known for their funkier work! "Blind Over You" is a sweet love song with a really great approach – sad and drifting, in an east coast mode, with a catchy lyric that steps along nicely. "Your Self-Conscious Mind" has a ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

2 killers by the JBs! "Doing It To Death" is one of their best tracks from the early days – with a funky riffing sound you'll know immediately. "Everybody Got Soul" is an excellent party track with a great Maceo solo – lots of grooves, and the band is tight tight ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Bell, Early 70s. Very Good
An excellent rare one! The cut's got a nice hard choppy groove, with a sort of electric feel to it, and the kind of funk sound that reminds us of groups like Manzel. Mr. Penguin talks over the top, and the band vamps underneath with lots of fuzzy guitar and organ! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Rampage, Early 70s. Very Good
Wicked heavy funk – one of those obscure numbers that's always stayed with us! The track's got a jaunty little groove – started off by a stepping, scratching guitar – then rolling into a heavy vamp with a lot of organ on the bottom! The tune kind of cooks and bubbles on its own ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

An excellent hard-to-find track by Lyn Collins! "Me & My Baby" has a wonderful gospelly intro, similar to "Message to the Soul Sisters", which then leaps into a great groove with a nice hard soul hook! The flip has sort of a nice Muscle Shoals-ish sound, with some good ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
