Sex Appeal – The Fantastical Pop World Of Simon Turner
CD (Item 28683) El/Cherry Red (UK), 1980s — Condition: New Copy
Wonderful pop work from Simon Fisher Turner – recorded years before he became the high art soundtrack composer famous for his collaborations with Derick Jarman! The first half of the CD features Simon in his child pop star years, back when he was a prodigy of Jonathan King, and the UK's answer to some of America's younger pop stars. This material gets a bit silly, but also has a great Brit 60s sound to it – with loads of sing-songy little tracks, done with more cleverness than you'd expect for Simon's young age. Titles on that set include Bowie's "The Prettiest Star", plus "Sit Down I Think I Love You", "I Wanna Love My Life Away", "She Was Just A Young Girl", and "Love Around". The second half of the CD features Simon from his mid 80s years at El Records – when he was using the monikker of King Of Luxembourg to pen and arrange some excellent little pop songs with a very silly regal edge to them! Tracks from that era feature many hard to find singles, and titles include "Trial Of Dr. Fancy", "Picture Of Dorian Gray", "Lee Remick", and "Poptones", a great cover of the PIL classic! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
