Not a total freakout, but definitely heading in the right direction – thanks to a motherlode of amazing tracks pulled from the Francophone scene at the end of the 60s! The core styles here are definitely rock, but there's plenty of funky appeal too – thanks to heavy drums, rumbling bass, and lots of weird instrumentation that sets this collection up nicely in a space between familiar rock break compilations, and some of the grooviest French pop work of the same time! Most lyrics are French, and there's plenty of jerky rhythms in the mix – the sort of jagged, upbeat grooves that really sound great underneath instrumentation filled with fuzzy guitar and freaky organ lines.
