A well-done set from Barbara Mason – one that's light years from her earlier soul work, and which takes her strongly into more mature territory! The approach is a bit Philly disco, a bit mellower soul – and the more laidback cuts actually work the best – bubbling along like a gentler take on the Miami sounds at TK Records – produced by Weldon McDougal with some slight deeper soul touches at times. Barbara really shines on these mellow steppers – the great "It Was You Boy", "More Of You", "Darling Come Back Home", and the excellent title cut "I Am Your Woman, She Is Your Wife", Barbara's latest entry into the Barbara/Shirley answer song cycle. Other tracks include "Take Me Tonight", "So Good", and "Joy In My Mind". (White label promo. Cover has a cut corner & some light wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Spirit Of The Boogie
De-Lite, 1975. Very Good Gatefold
Way more than just a "boogie" album – as you might think from the title – and much more a hard-hitting batch of funky tunes, mixed with some even cooler laidback numbers! The album follows heavily off the style of Wild & Peaceful – mixing together the group's older ... LP, Vinyl record album

Oh Girl
Atlantic, 1972. Very Good-
Wicked electric funk from Young Holt Unlimited – and a real departure from the sound of their 60s albums, and a step into a groove that's very 70s-styled overall! The album's heavy on Fender Rhodes – played not just by group member Ken Chaney, but also by a young Bobby Lyle – ... LP, Vinyl record album
