CD (Item 607986) Disques Dessinee (Japan), 2012 — Condition: New Copy

Some of the loveliest work we've heard in years from Wagner Tiso – a set that takes us back to the rich feelings of his earliest records, but serves things up in a mature, understated style too! As you'd guess from the title, there's a very cinematic feel to the music – tunes that almost have a soundtrack-like sensitivity, yet which get a South American jazz approach here – with Tiso on piano and accordion, alongside a bit of cello, violin, oboe, bass, and percussion – often used very softly – to shade things in with just the right sort of flavors, but leaving Wagner's piano and accordion out front in most of the instrumentation. Titles include "Toque Final", "Diario De Helena", "Fernanda", "Choro Cromatico", "Menta Pra Mim", "Triste Amor", "Cancao 1", and "O Primeiro Filme".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
