These guys just never stop grooving -- and although an Afro Funk combo at the core, they've really started growing their sound over the years -- so that this time around, there's a fair bit of deep funk in the mix as well! Fela-styled grooves are inflected with a bit of a JBs sensibility at times -- and the vocals have a rolling, romping quality that eggs on the rhythms even more -- not really what you'd expect from Afro Funk, and almost more of a Caribbean sort of soul at points. This blend of elements really makes the record stand out from the pack, and keeps Kokolo from being just a rehash of older 70s modes -- giving us another great reason to keep an ear on their groove as the years roll on!
