An excellent album from funky guitarist Wilbert Longmire – probably his best, in our opinion! The album was recorded in LA with some very hip arrangements from Joe Sample – at the head of a largeish soul jazz group that includes usual suspects from the LA scene, like Paul Humphrey, George Bohannon, Anthony Ortega, and Wilton Felder – plus a young Leon Spencer on organ, who turns out some excellent solos with a very groovy touch! Includes a totally great version of James Brown's "Give It Up or Turn it Loose" – done with a nice little kick – plus takes of "This Guy's In Love With You", "Galveston", "Revolution", "Theme From The Fox", and "Scarborough Fair". (Cover has some wear, partially split top and bottom seams, and a promo stamp inside the gatefold.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Impulse, 1963. Very Good- Gatefold
A real standout in the early career of trumpeter Freddie Hubbard – a very unique session that has him working with some larger arrangements in the background – blowing these magical solos over the top, while still hitting a great edge with the rest of the musicians as well! CTI, 1974. Very Good- Gatefold
A landmark album – not only for Bob James, but for CTI and the Fender Rhodes as well! This is the album where all the magic starts – the first of many extremely successful albums that Bob recorded during the 70s under his own name, and almost the birthplace of the modern hip hop ...
