Listen, forget every cliche you've ever heard about this film, because this soundtrack is amazing! Gato Barbieri knocked himself out for this one, and came up with an insanely wonderful batch of "modern jazz tango" tracks that mix out soloing, pounding bandoneon rhythms, and lush romantic scoring – and the result is a score that still never fails to send chills down our spines. Includes many versions of the "Last Tango" theme, plus the tracks "Girl In Black", "Jeanne", "Why Did She Choose You?", "It's Over", and "Fake Ophelia". (Cloud label pressing. Cover has some seam splitting.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A sublime soundtrack from John Barry – common, to be sure, but also a wonderfully-crafted set that goes way beyond the stereotypes of his work for the James Bond films! Great Escape
United Artists, Mid 60s. Very Good
Nice tune! The groovy main theme to this one far outlived the film, and showed up all over the place in the 60s – on instrumental theme records, TV spoofs, and other oddball sources. The rest of the score's pretty great, too – and features some compelling orchestrations by Bernstein, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Lenny
United Artists, 1974. Very Good
Although the great Lenny Bruce never appeared in the Bob Fosse film based on his tragic story, Dustin Hoffman did a pretty great job of recreating his style, and of bringing together good performances of some of the most important monologues by Lenny, which are often missing from his other recorded ... A pretty darn great soundtrack from Neal Hefti – with some great mod bits too! There's a lot of groovy organ on the set – and plenty of go-go drums that give the tracks a garagey soulful sound that separates the record from most of Hefti's other soundtrack work – a slightly ... A wonderful Nino Rota score – perhaps not as well known as some of his work for Fellini, but every bit as great, if not better!
