Hard Steppin/Prisoner

Out Of Stock

Add Item to Want List
7-inch (Item 501847) Colemine, 2009 — Condition: New Copy

An Afro funk steeped workout from Brooklyn's Ikebe Shakedown – tight, hard charging and "Hard Steppin" – doing their thing with abundant classic stateside instro funk influences, too! "Hard Steppin" is a heavy, unstoppable number – the drums, percussion and bass holding a feverish bottom end, with some tight, excellent horns and guitar grooves. "Prisoner" takes a more measured and moody approach on the flipside, more of a cinematic soul instrumental title. It says a lot that these guys are making a welcome entry to the east coast scene, with so many great contemporary funk & soul combos such as the Daptone and Truth & Soul stables.  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
