A key album in the 90s revival of Afro Funk – a seminal set from Fela's first famous son! The album's got a really nice edge throughout – and offers a mixture of older Afro Funk modes with some slight contemporary elements – bits of electronics and occasional programmed rhythms, neither of which are used heavily at all – and which are always offset by some of the best warmer elements you'd expect from a Kuti family member. There's some very strong horn parts on the record, and great chorus vocals too – and titles include the single "Beng Beng Beng" – plus "Scatta Head", "Look Around", "Sorry Sorry", "Victim Of Life", and "Blackman Know Yourself".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
