LP, Vinyl record album

4.70 5

One of the best albums by this groovy piano/percussion combo who played a nice mix of bossa and soul jazz. The set has 2 nice originals with a deep groove – "Watusi Warrior" and "Sheryl Likes Bananas" – plus groovy covers of "Summertime", "Taste Of Honey", and "More". Nice stuff, and very cool mix of piano, bass, drums, and congas. (Cover has some wear, two stickers on the front, masking tape and some splitting on the seams, and some stains and marker on the back.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Columbia, 1969. Very Good+ 2 LP Gatefold
One of the few cases in jazz where an oft-played classic still resonates with power! The record itself is a key cap to Miles Davis' already-groundbreaking years of the 60s – a bold step forward, not just for his nascent electric sound, but also for jazz in general – and the benchmark ... House Of David
Atlantic, 1967. Very Good+
One of David Newman's grooviest albums of the 60s – a stripped-down set that features a quartet with Hammond and guitar – all in a vibe that's a bit more relaxed than some of Newman's other sessions for Atlantic! There's a gritty edge to the record – with organ by the obscure ... LP, Vinyl record album

Spring Rain
Black Jazz, 1971. Near Mint-
One of the few albums ever cut by reedman Rudolph Johnson – a hell of a saxophonist, and one with a great ability to combine the spiritual with the searing – a bit like Joe Farrell at his CTI best, but not as freewheeling – nicely focused, and a little bit funky in all the right ...
