A seminal album in the development of Philadelphia International – who seemed to be taking a cue from Motown and Stax in the 60s, by bringing their biggest act to a European audience! The set features the O'Jays working as beautifully in a live setting as they had in the Sigma Sound studios – singing to arrangements by Dennis Williams, but still getting enough production by Bobby Martin to keep the sound in line with their better known studio work from the time. There's a bit of a deeper soul sound overall here – especially on the vocals, which crackle nicely with a live sense of spontaneity. Titles include "Back Stabbers", "Sunshine", "Love Train", "When The World Is A Peace", and "Put Your Hands Together" – plus a few vocal introductions! (Cover has a cut corner and some wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Gamble/Philadelphia International, Late 60s/1973. Near Mint-
A seminal collection of work from this legendary Philly group – a set that brings together some of their best singles from the early days – all in a hip 70s package! Despite mid 70s issue of the album, most of the work here come from the group's late 60s start – and they ... LP, Vinyl record album

Unemployment Blues
Philadelphia International, 1976. Very Good+
Nice Philly groove record by this obscure funky band from the 70's. The title cut, "Unemployment Blues", is a brassy funky track with political lyrics, but our favorite cuts on here are the smoother soul cuts, like "Baby I'm Yours" and "Toy Ball", which has a nice ... LP, Vinyl record album
