Salsoul, 1980. Very Good
Recorded after he left Roy Ayers' group, and with a different feel than the stuff he did in the early 70's, this track is Edwin Birdsong's big funk hit, and a tough one to find, too! The cut's got a snapping groove that's in a tight rollerskate funk mode – very nice all the way through, and ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Ain't That Enough For You/A Bite Of The Apple
SAM/Columbia, 1978. Very Good
Two excellent instrumentals from the great John Davis – one of the best mainstream disco arrangers, and a talent well deserving of his "monster" tag! Both sides are nice, with a good conga groove underneath, and strong instrumentation that never gets too cheesy. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Streetwise, 1983. Very Good+
One of those b-boy cuts that straddles the line between soul and hip hop, but definitely an 80s breakin'/electro/dance classic! Anything from 1982 produced by Arthur Baker and mixed by Jellybean is bound to be dope and this one is no exception. With production and sung vocals similar to the ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Dance Mania, 1987. Very Good-
A nice stripped down bit of early Chicago house, super raw drum machine house beats with just a touch of vocals and synth thrown into the mix here and there, by Farley. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Factory (UK), 1984. Very Good
Latinized crossover club from the enigmatic Quando Quango – one of our favorite groups from the Factory Records import years! "Atom Rock" is a catchy New York styled number, remixed here by Mark Kamins with the trebley guitar, conga and electro bits all ducking in and out of the ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Infinity, 1978. Very Good (pic cover)
A really great later hit from UK rock/soul combo Hot Chocolate – a tune that steps along with a slightly funky bottom groove, and which features some of that great fuzzed out guitar from the group's earlier albums! There's a great blend of rock and club modes going on here – and the ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Sugarscoop, 1983. Very Good
There's not really rapping on here, but rather singing. We'd guess this falls somewhere between electro and freestyle, but for an 80s retro set it's actually not bad, and "part 2"s got some sort of bonus beat type moments. 12-inch, Vinyl record
