At Separate Tables (Japanese paper sleeve edition)
CD (Item 609306) Jubilee (Japan), 1959 — Condition: New Copy
A sweet vocal treasure from Lu Ann Simms – one of those great 50s singers who hardly made a mark on the rest of the world – but managed to leave behind a great record like this! Simms' has this really wonderful sound – easygoing, yet full of feeling – a balance that few of her contemporaries can do this well without sounding too emotive or schmaltzy. There's almost a Chris Connor vibe to the record – particularly from Chris' shift to Atlantic Records – and Dave Terry handles the orchestra with a great gentle touch – plenty of room for Lu Ann's vocals in the lead! Titles include "Separate Tables", "My Dream Is Yours", "This Is Always", "I Only Have Eyes For You", and "No Love No Nothin". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
