CD (Item 604577) In & Out (Germany), 1989 — Condition: New Copy

A smoking live set from the great Urszula Dudziak – recorded in the late 80s, but every bit as sharp as her famous vocal sides from the 70s! Duziak an amazing singer with a really unique sound – partly the expressive, experimental jazz modes of European contemporaries like Karin Krog or Monica Zetterlund – partly the breezy, scatting soul of Flora Purim – yet somehow very much her own voice as well, with some particularly sharp bits around the edges! The live setting of this album really lets her shine – with no studio effects, no commercial modes to smooth things out – and instead, the kind of spontaneous energy she first generated with Michal Urbaniak. The group's a quintet with tenor and vibes – really grooving great in all the right places – and titles include "Papaya", "Wake Up Call", "No Else Thank You", "Tico Tico", "Sorrow Is Nor Forever", "Samba Ula", and "Theme From Rosemary's Baby".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
