Killer Japanese jazz from the 60s and 70s – mostly hardbop numbers, played with the sharpness, intensity, and sense of vision you'd expect from Blue Note Records during their glory days! The groups here are all Japanese, as you'd guess from the title – and the selection of cuts is handled by the branch of Wax Poetics in Tokyo – so you can bet that the collection's got plenty of appeal to crate-diggers and fans of rare grooves from back in the day! Instrumentation includes loads of tight tenor, trumpet, and piano solos – over rhythms that run from 50s hardbop to 60s soul jazz to 70s modal.
