For The Good Times/Until It's Time For You To Go
CD (Item 56980) Prestige, 1973/1974 — Condition: New Copy
Two late Rusty Bryant albums – back to back on one CD! For the Good Times was one of Rusty's last for Prestige – recorded with a lineup that includes Hank Jones on electric piano, and Joe Beck on guitar. The album's not as over the top funky as his earlier ones for the label – but it does include some nice electric moments that show a new side of Rusty's groove. Tracks include "Theme from Deep Throat", a nice soundtrack groover, plus "The Last One Out" and "Appalachian Green". Until It's Time For You To Go is a mellower Rusty Bryant set recorded for Prestige with larger arrangements by Horace Ott, who also worked on a lot of the Solid State and Groove Merchant recordings at the time. The group includes Ott on piano and electric piano, Ernie Hayes on organ, Bad Bascomb on bass, and Bernard Purdie on drums. The album, like the first, is not as over the top funky, but it does have a few nice mellow funk moments – like the groovers "The Hump Bump" and "Ga Gang Gang Goong". Other tracks include "Troubles", "Until It's Time For You To Go", and "The Red Eye Special". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
