CD (Item 596343) Kismet (UK), 1968 — Condition: New Copy
Great late folk rock work from Rabbit Mackay – a rare gem from the Cali scene of the late 60s, and a set that really has Rabbit sitting between two different sides of the music! There's a thoughtful, earnest quality at points – almost some of the singer/songwriter modes that Tim Hardin hit after his Verve years – coming through especially strongly on the numbers that use some slightly more rockish elements in the arrangements. But other numbers have a more traditional Village folkie sort of feel – kind of a shadows of Dylan element that hearkens back to an earlier generation of expression too.
