We Pay Respekt – Evergreens From Grey Reality PolandVarious
CD (Item 593777) Polskie Nagrania (Poland), 1970s — Condition: New Copy
Respect flows both ways here – not just respect for the Polish jazz scene that made some great music during the Communist years, but also respect for the global artists who inspired them – as you'll see in the setup of the collection! Most tunes here are covers – but they're done in very different ways than you might expect – a range of styles that runs from funky fusion, to jazz vocals, to progressive rock, to Latin piano – a great illustration of the depth that was happening in the Polish scene back in the day! The package was put together by the same guys who gave us the Polish Funk compilations – but actually goes way beyond those in scope, and includes loads of gems that haven't been reissued otherwise – making us wish we could dig even deeper into Polish wax from the 60s and 70s. Titles include "Cool Jerk" by Polanie, "Respekt" by Niebiesko Czarni, "One Note Samba" by Novi Singers, "Desafinado" by Bossa Nova Combo, "Livin In Sin" by Test, "Fare You Well" by Spiritual Singers, "Naima" by Extra Ball, "Kameleon" by Orkiestra PRiTV, "Madrox" by Big Band Katowice, "Fool On The Hill" by Novi Singers, and "Brazil" by Jozef Mazurkiewicz Orchestra. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
