My World/Love Comes And Goes

One of the greatest tunes we've ever heard from Lee Fields – a super-mellow bit of funk that's more like Marvin Gaye than some of his previous James Brown-styled tunes! The track's got a great laidback groove – vibes, snapping drums, and just a bit of strings – all couched perfectly with a gently funky undercurrent – almost like a cut from a lost 70s soundtrack. Lee's vocals are still as soulful as ever – sweet, but with a slight rasp that keeps things real, and which underscores the hip lyrics of the tune.
