Great stuff! This fantastic lost John Handy album for Roulette, like his others, stands as some of the finest unknown jazz of the 60's. These records are always (unfortunately) passed by in the racks, but don't make the same mistake! Handy's alto is honed to a razor sharp point, fresh from his work with Mingus, and the writing and playing is at a level that he (and few other alto players) ever reached again. A young Walter Bishop plays piano, and the cuts include "No Coast", "Boo's Ups & Downs", and "Quote, Unquote". (Cover has clear tape on the spine & seams, a large name in marker, and a few stains.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Capitol, Early 70s. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
One of Cannonball's best, and wildest, from the Capitol/David Axelrod years. The set was recorded live at The Troubadour in LA, and the music's a wild mix of funk, jazz, and noise, with Cannonball on alto, Nat on cornet, George Duke on piano, Walter Booker on bass, and Airto on percussion. Feels So Good
Kudu, 1975. Very Good
An incredible batch of electric funk from Grover Washington Jr – easily one of his best albums ever! The record really picks up from the sweet CTI sound of the 70s – taking Bob James arrangements with a lot of space and electric keyboards, and letting Groover blow some wonderfully ... Thinking of Home
Blue Note, 1970/1980. Very Good
One of Hank Mobley's last recordings for Blue Note, and a record that really shows him stretching it out – hitting territory hardly imagined on his earlier hardbop sides! The album's still somewhat inside, but the overall feel is much more spacious than before – a sound that has some ... LP, Vinyl record album
