James Carr In Muscle Shoals EP

7-inch (Item 590582) Kent (UK), 1968/1969 — Condition: New Copy

Great work from James Carr – a singer usually associated with the Memphis scene, but one who's recording here in Muscle Shoals – on a set of rare late 60s numbers produced at the Quinvy and Fame Studios! The mix of Carr's Memphis vocals and the slow-burning Muscle Shoals sound is wonderful – a perfect presentation of the genius that should have made James one of the biggest soul acts of the 60s – every bit the best deep soul singer that you'd find on Atlantic and way up in the charts – but maybe even better because his indie label obscurity has kept his music fresh over the space of decades! The EP features 4 tracks from Muscle Shoals – two versions appearing here for the first time "That's The Way Love Turned Out For Me (unedited stereo mix)" and "Life Turned Her That Way (unedited stereo mix)" – plus "Love Is A Beautiful Thing" and "Search Your Heart". (Limited edition release – and very nicely done!)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
