UK Live – At Gallery Club Nottingham Vol 2 (Japanese paper sleeve edition)
CD (Item 614522) Jazzhus Disk (Japan), 1966 — Condition: New Copy
A gently swinging set of tunes from the trio of pianist Archie Cottrell – and equally nice for the tenor solos heard on most numbers too! The live performance was captured at the Gallery Club in the UK in the mid 60s – and in addition to Cottrell on piano, Clive Morton on bass, and Tony Richards on drums, the set also features some wonderful tenor from Danny Moss – playing with this raspy tone that has plenty of echoes of Lester Young, and which fits in with the piano like Ben Webster on some great Verve session from the 50s! A few other tracks feature an unknown tenor player – with a slightly different tone, but equally nice – and the session's a great one – with way more to offer than you'd expect from its unassuming title and cover. Tracks on this second volume include "Copacabana", "Jam", "Barbeque", "Thou Swell", "Wee Small Hours Of The Morning", and "Keeping Out Of Mischief".
