A great album filled with hard breaks, tight choppy guitars, and a deep funky sound. This is one of the best early albums by the Nite Liters, and it's filled with great grooves like "Funky-Doo", "Stinkin Charlie", and "K-Jee" – but just about every track is a funky winner! These guys fit right in between The Meters & The JBs – and in our book, they're one of the best instrumental funk acts of the 70s! The album's like finding a pile of rare funky 45s, all pressed onto the same piece of wax!  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

RCA, 1972. New Copy (reissue)
One of the best albums of funky instrumentals by the legendary Nite Liters – and probably their hardest to find! The record's got loads of nice cuts that hit their classic funky groove in a way that brings to mind The Meters or The JBs – but which also has the Nite-Liter's own unique ... LP, Vinyl record album
ARC, 1968. New Copy (reissue)
A very hip tribute to Otis Redding – one that has The Majestics hitting hard in an instrumental mode that's almost like some of the Mar-Keys or Bar-Kays work on Stax from the mid 60s – tight drums on the bottom, Hammond and guitar grooving in the middle, and some occasional horns ... Polydor, 1976. New Copy (reissue)
One of Roy Ayers' biggest albums ever! The whole thing's an incredible album of mellow jazzy soul – and it shows Roy at the crossroads, perfecting his earlier funk style with a sweet mellow R&B edge, getting a bit slicker, but still staying on the righteous path, and opening up a whole ... Tear To A Smile
Polydor, 1975. New Copy (reissue)
One of the best early soul albums by Roy Ayers! Roy's working here with Dee Dee Bridgewater, Edwin Birdsong, William Allen, Harry Whitaker, and other hip players – a perfect crew to forge Roy's unique blend of jazz and soul. This is perhaps the first record to really have Roy stretching out ... LP, Vinyl record album
Mystic Voyage
Polydor, 1975. New Copy (reissue)
An archetypal album by Roy – and one that really shows him at the turning point! Gone are the trippier jazz funk moments of earlier albums – and in their place are some tight grooves and wonderfully spacey soul. Roy hits the dancefloor with one of his first uptempo funk numbers "B ... LP, Vinyl record album

Deadlier than Dracula – and a lot funkier too! This is the original soundtrack for the classic blacksploitation horror flick starring the baaadest Drac ever to grace the screen of all those shabby downtown theaters that were still around in the 70s – a wicked batch of wah-wah tunes ... A standout solo moment from the amazing Keni Burke – an artist who's come a long way from his youthful start in the 5 Stairsteps! Keni had recorded other adult work by the time of this early 80s set, but Changes is easily his best-remembered album – a masterpiece of 80s groove, all ... LP, Vinyl record album
Soul Ain't No New Thing
RCA, 1972. New Copy (reissue)
Reissue of an amazingly hard to find funk album on RCA! The Soulciety group was the brainchild of Boobie Knight, and they were one of the many funky groups that fell under the supervision of Harvey Fuqua while he was working for RCA. Boobie's group has a totally different sound than the others on ... LP, Vinyl record album
RCA, 1973. New Copy (reissue)
One of the nicest early albums by this great 70s soul collective – featuring a strong mix of funk and mellow soul tracks, with backing by the Nite Liters on some tracks, and production by the great Harvey Fuqua throughout! Titles include "Wild Flower", "It's Been A Long ... LP, Vinyl record album

Excellent work by Glenn Jones – even if the record is only a 5 track EP! The set is one of those strange little records issued in the early 80s, when the music industry was trying to figure out a way to make money between the ever-escalating cost of the LP and the less-popular 12" ... Norton, Late 50s/1960s. New Copy
Norton Records takes over the excellent Golden Groups series – using the format as a great way to present their vocal soul treasures! The look and feel is similar to older Golden Group volumes on Relic – but the music here pops even more, and has a more expansive, more expressive style ... LP, Vinyl record album
Dresses Too Short
Twinight/Numero, 1969. New Copy (reissue)
The funkiest album that Syl Johnson ever recorded – filled with short, tight cuts that play more like a stack of funky 45s than the standard soul album of the time! The record draws from the great run of singles that Syl cut for Twinight Records at the end of the 60s – some of the ... LP, Vinyl record album
