Estilhacos – Live In Lisbon 1972

CD (Item 606512) Clean Feed (Portugal), 1972 — Condition: New Copy

A really compelling performance by the Steve Lacy quintet of the early 70s – a live date recorded in Lisbon, and one that captures the group at their most creative! There's a quality here that seems to push past even other Lacy greatness of the time – and which also seems to have all the group members rising to meet the genius of their leader – especially Irene Aebi, who does an incredible job at the beginning – playing a transistor radio, to bring in some really unexpected sounds to the performance – then some even wilder harmonica tones too! Other players are all key Lacy associates too – Steve Potts on alto, Kent Carter on bass, and Noel McGhie on drums and percussion – and titles include "Stations", "The High Way", "No Baby", and "Chips/Moon/Dreams".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
