Love Trip
CD (Item 605991) Arista/FTG, 1975 — Condition: New Copy
A tight little album from Tamiko Jones – one of the most enigmatic singers to come out of the south, stepping proud here in a sound that's almost in the Hotlanta vein! Tamiko's working with an assortment of Muscle Shoals musicians on the set – and the style of the album is a mixture of southern and modern soul modes – handled with a warm finish that reminds us of Gwen McCrae's best late 70s work, especially that on her Melody Of Life album, or some of the best work from Loleatta Holloway's pre-club years! There's a nice groove to the best cuts – one that works perfectly with Tamiko's surprisingly deep vocals – and tracks include "Oh How I Love You", "Long Way To Go", "Creepin'", "Chili Dog", "Touch Me Baby", "Read Me Right", and "Let Me In Your Life". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | ||||||
