Further Mellow Cats 'N' Kittens – Hot R&B & Cool Blues 1945 to 1951Various
CD (Item 590574) Ace (UK), Late 40s/Early 50s — Condition: New Copy
Damn great music from the LA scene of the postwar years – jump blues, R&B, jiving jazz, and more – all the right kind of platters that spun big during the era of the late 78s! The collection's every bit as ear-tickling as the first two volumes – a real treasure trove of music we never would have heard otherwise, sparkling with a freshness that might come from the great mastering of the original tapes – or from the wicked way the whole thing's put together! Sure, there's plenty of cheap packages of music from this time out on the market, but a collection like this is key proof that you're always best sticking with the right folks to deliver the tunes – because Ace has scored another winner with this hip dig through the collection of Modern Records – coming up with 25 tracks in all, 9 of which are previously unissued, all supported by very detailed notes. Titles include "Worried Life Blues" by Red Mack with Luke Jones, "Seven Days" by Gory Carter, "I Was Too Blind To See" by Ira Amos, "Happy Pay Day (part 1)" by Austin McCoy, "The Man That Comes To My House" by Three Bits Of Rhythm, "In The Oven" by Teddy Bunn, "Cold Blooded Boogie" by Jim Wynn, "Trouble In Mind" by Duke Henderson, and "Mellow Scat" by Bebopper Lulu. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
