Live At Memory Lane (Japanese paper sleeve edition)
CD (Item 595494) JAS/SSJ (Japan), 1970 — Condition: New Copy
One of the most unique albums we've ever seen from pianist Hampton Hawes – a set that was originally recorded for television, but in a laidback way that captures the jam session feel of the legendary Central Avenue scene in LA! Hamp's piano is a key part of the rhythm of the record – but the set's got an equal constellation of stars who all get their licks in – including altoist Sonny Criss, trumpeter Harry Sweets Edison, tenorist Teddy Edwards, and bassist Leroy Vinnegar – plus singer Joe Turner, who sings in a jazzy style on a few tracks! Tracks are mostly long – and titles include "Memory Lane Blues", "Blues For JL", "Feelin Happy", and "Teddy's Blues". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
