Samba Con Salsa – Latin Music From The Bass Clef London

Add Item to Want List
LP (Item 609287) Wave (UK), 1987 — Condition: New Copy

A crackling batch of Latin from mid 80s London – recorded at the Bass Clef nightclub, and a great illustration for this overlooked scene at the time! The groups all work in a style that hearkens back to the best years of the New York scene – with perhaps an even stronger placement of rootsy elements than you might get from American groups of the time, mixed with a few bolder jazz moments that echo the growth to come in the London scene. Titles include "Adivina" by Robin Jones with guest trumpet from Chocolate Amenteros – plus "Viva Chavez" by Cayenne, "Samba Rio" by Yes Brazil, "Beyond The Snowstorm" by Snowboy, "El Guaybo De La Ye" by Palenque, and "Ven" by Robin Jones.  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
