Upper West Side Story
CD (Item 606796) Origin, 2012 — Condition: New Copy
One of the most beautiful albums we've heard in years from guitarist Bobby Broom – a wonderfully poetic, picturesque set that really lives up to its title! We've known Bobby for years as a Chicagoan, but he's a New Yorker by birth – and really pays great tribute to his hometown in this well-crafted set of trio tracks – tunes that stretch out with evocative lines that go way past the usual sounds we know from Broom – all original numbers that are filled with lyrical lines, but also have a confident swing that's all New York, all the way! Bobby's tone is wonderful – that raspy style that's always made him one of the best heirs to the Grant Green legacy on guitar – almost even more amazing here in the spare company of Dennis Carroll on bass, and either Kobie Watkins or Makaya McCraven on drums. Titles include "Fambroscious", "Minor Major Mishap", "D's Blues", "After Words", "When The Falling Leaves", "Father", and "Call Me A Cab". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
