Merle Haggard's affectionate 1969 tribute to the genius of Jimmie Rodgers. For all of his rough, outlaw ways and reactionary moods – particularly in the immediate years after Okie from Muskogee – Merle was also deeply sensitive and respectful of his influences. His voice was never sweeter than on this set of Rodgers tunes – despite the fact the Merle's genius pen didn't write any of the tunes here, this may still be his masterpiece. All of the songs and narration tracks from the original LP are here – 25 in all! (Rainbow label pressing – in great shape!)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
